Educationist tasks parents on monitoring, quality time with children

Mrs. Omolasho Adamolekun, the proprietress of Anchor Springfield Schools, Ota, Ogun State, has called on parents/guardians to monitor their children/wards at home to ensure they keep good companies.

Disclosing this at the school’s 2019 Graduation/Valedictory Service, held at the school premises, the proprietress said the type of friends children keep could affect them positively or otherwise.

She said: “As parents/guardians you are to create quality time for your children/wards to oversee what they are doing. You are also to provide for them and be security conscious because there are a lot of evil elements in the society looking for whom to devour.”

Adamolekun disclosed that the pupils performed extraordinary well at the Abuja International Science Fair, adding that the school would work harder next time and perform better because such exposures boost pupils’ morale and also enable them explore their environment.

Congratulating the graduating pupils, she advised them to shun all forms of vices, create extra time for their studies and be good ambassadors of the school.

“As you have made yourself exceptional among your peers and moving to another level in life, I encourage you to work harder to maintain the feat, because the drive to succeed is in you. Give more time to research instead of dissipating precious time on the social media chats,” she said.

The proprietress also cautioned the pupils to beware of the evils of social media, saying many innocent lives have been ruined through it. She noted that social media has a lot of advantages and the pupils are to use such advantages to improve themselves and their studies.
