Eden centre advocates charity works

The Senior Pastor of Eden Centre, Pison Courts, Yaba, Lagos, Akin Akinpelu has said the church must no longer sit and take from its members but must be able and willing to give out to both its needy members and the society.

He said: “One of the things I have been busy doing for a while in my life is trying to have an impact on the educational sector of this country. So, I train teachers and I also try to reach out to the students as much as I can. I’m involved in several projects like the Volunteer Corps that deals with over 15,000 children, but we ask ourselves as a church what we can do to keep impacting our community and that is why we are doing this.”

He said this when the church donated writing materials to school children.

“There is no political undertone, this is just a charity work to the community, so, we decided that we are going to give bags and writing materials to 1000 families so that the parents would only think about the children’s school fees and their PTA levies. And we are giving both to Muslims, Christians, and people from other religions. This is the first time we are doing a back-to-school programme because we just came to this community seven months ago.”
