Be ready for good news

Text: Luke 2:10
Key verse:
Proverbs 25:25: “As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.” (KJV)

The Gospel is good news about Jesus birth, death and resurrection to restore people’s relationship with God.

History tells us that the time of our Lord’s birth was indeed a time of weariness and widespread despair among men and among the nations of the earth.

The good news about Jesus birth brought hope to mankind who were living in fear, bondage and hopelessness.

It is not God’s will that the former days will be better than today. The best of God cannot be behind.

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you … plans to give you hope and a future.” The best of God cannot be in the past but in the future. I pray for you good news is coming your way in Jesus name, Amen.

Good news is something that is encouraging, positive, lifting and desirable. Proverbs 15:30, says that good news gives health to the bones. Good news is like cold water that quenches your thirst and it makes one’s bones to come alive.

Most times, people get fat not because they are eating too much but because they are happy about the good news they have received. The brothers of Joseph reported to their father that Joseph had been killed by some ferocious animal, which tore him to pieces (Genesis 37:33).

In Genesis 37:34, Jacob mourned Joseph for many days; he tore his clothes and put on a sackcloth. All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.”

There was great famine in the land and Jacob sent his sons to go and buy food in Egypt. Joseph was the Governor of Egypt, and it was he who sold to all people of the land coming to buy food.

So, Joseph’s brothers came and bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground. They didn’t recognise Joseph but Joseph recognised them and revealed himself to them. He instructed them to go and tell their father that he was still alive and that they should come back along with him.

Joseph’s brothers came back to Canaan and told their father saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is the governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not (Genesis 45:26). I pray for you testimony that will be hard to believe will locate you today. The Bible says, “Jacob believed them not.”

Genesis 45:27: they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons, which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived.

The good news that Joseph’s brothers broke to their father revived him and brought health to his bones.

It was good news from a far country. The interesting thing about this Joseph’s story is that it was the same people who broke the bad news of Joseph’s death that also broke the good news that Joseph was still alive.

I pray for you that the same people who carried bad news about you to run you out of town shall be the same people who shall break good news about what God has done in your life. What you are about to hear is better than what you have heard before, Amen.
