The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has promised to do his best in ensuring that basic amenities were provided for the people of the state.

At the First Session of the 13th Synod of the Diocese of Remo, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Ogun State, with the theme: “Growing the Church of God through a godly generation,” the governor applauded the church as well as the people of the state for their co-operation and understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

The governor, who thanked God for curtailing the scourge in Nigeria and the continent of Africa, however, called on people of the state to continue to comply with government’s regulations by wearing face masks, avoid crowded spaces and ensure that they wash their hands with sanitisers as stipulated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and World Health Organisation.

He noted that the prayers of the church and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun State chapter, were factors that contributed to the peaceful co-existence witnessed in the state and among citizens. He said his government would welcome good ideas tailored toward supporting his administration’s effort.

Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical Province and Diocesan Bishop of Remo, Most Rev’d Olusina Fape, urged the governor not to relent in his efforts in tackling insecurity, unemployment, and other infrastructural challenges in the state. He also appealed to the Federal Government to look into Southern Kaduna crises, the problem of corruption as well as youth restiveness.

He commended Governor Abiodun’s efforts in the construction of roads and the building of schools.
