AAUA concludes VC’s games

The Faculty of Education of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), has emerged the overall winner of the school’s Vice Chancellor’s Games.

The Faculty of Education of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), has emerged the overall winner of the school’s Vice Chancellor’s Games.

The Faculty lifted the cup after toping the medals table with eight gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals.
This year’s edition saw the students taking part in various in-door track and field events, including football, chess, basketball, athletics, handball, badminton and Ayo Opon, a traditional Yoruba game

The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, FSMS came second with five gold, five silver and two bronze medals, while the Faculty of Arts clinched the third position with four gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

The Faculty of Law settled for the fourth position with two gold, one silver and one bronze medals, while Faculty of Science managed fifth place with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

The newly established Faculty of Agriculture got one gold and one bronze medal to come last.

Meanwhile, the final of the football event, which took place on Wednesday, saw the Faculty of Science locking horns with the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

Two brilliant goals, one in each half of the encounter from Akindasa Henry separated the two sides, giving the Faculty its lone gold of the tournament.

Earlier in his remark, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, expressed delight in the tournament and commended the school’s Sport Unit for the competition.
