Zambia are not leaving anything to chance in their quest to beat Nigeria to Group B’s Russia 2018 World Cup ticket. The Chipolopolo, who lost 1-2 to the Super Eagles in the first game of the qualifiers at home in Ndola, must beat Nigeria in Uyo to stand a chance of stealing the ticket from the group leaders.

Nigeria are on 10 points from four games, while Zambia have seven points from the same number of games with two matches left in the qualifying series.

A win for Zambia in Uyo will bring them at par with Nigeria, but they will still be second on goals difference. However, the Zambians believe they can beat Cameroon in their last group game, while hoping the Eagles will stumble in Algiers, where Nigeria will play their last game against Algeria.

To ensure they kept their chances alive, the Zambians yesterday began the first phase of preparations for the October 7 clash in Uyo with the notification to the players they need for the encounter.

In the list released by Coach Wedson Nyirenda yesterday are the bulk of the squad that beat Algeria home and away in the last qualifying rounds early this month.
