Though the 2016 Valentine day celebration has long gone, organisers of the annual Valentine Kitty say it is never too late to celebrate love even as it fixed April 13 for the 2016 edition of the golf kitty.

The organising committee, which includes Bola Cusworth, the former Lady Captain of the golf section of Ikoyi Club, Dr. Chaka Awatai, a former Lady Captain at Ikeja Golf Club and Chichi Alamu, also a former Lady Captain at Ikeja Golf Club, say this year’s edition billed to hold next week will be given their best shot ever.

Cusworth told journalists last week that this year’s kitty, just like the previous ones, is made possible by the support of First Bank Nigeria plc.

“I am most grateful to FirstBank for their support for Valentine kitty. They have supported us over the years and have helped us to unify the family. We will forever remain grateful to them,” she said.

The Valentine Kitty has been an annual event played at Ikoyi Club 1938. Apart from Ikoyi, it has also been played in Abeokuta, Sagamu and other neighboring clubs.

However, the 2016 edition of the competition will hold in Ikeja because of the desire of the organisers to make the kitty a national event.

“The Valentine Kitty tournament has become a must play for everybody and, because of its importance in unifying us as a people, we have decided that the competition must hold every year and for the 2016 edition we have promised every participant a fun-filled week,” she said.

To be played over 18-holes, the tournament is open to golfers from across the country, and Cusworth, along with other members of the organizing committee, has promised to put a lot of colour into the event.

While thanking First Bank for their support for the competition, she said their effort has helped in unifying the family.

“Valentine tournament is not only about playing golf and coming to unwind at the end of the game, it also set out to help grow family by sharing love. Though this year’s edition is coming a bit late, we believe it is never too late to share love,” she concluded.
