Roller Sports league to commence soon

The President of Roller Sports Federation of Nigeria, Comrade Joseph Evah has attributed the problems facing Nigerian sports to the influx of ‘pretenders’ running affairs of the nation’s sports.

“Too many pretenders in Nigerian sports,” Evah said while declaring open the maiden national delegates’ conference of Roller Sports Federation of Nigeria at the weekend in Lagos.

“They don’t have leadership quality, yet they won’t let those who have it to lead the people. In Roller Sports Federation, our objective is to do it right. We have said that we want to move our youths from crimes and it will happen. But the best way to go about it is to be straightforward. You have to carry the people along. Where can we go in life with this cameleon character? We have to change our ways of living, particularly in the sports system so that those we are leading can have faith in us.”

Evah was not happy with technical officials of the Roller Federation for not informing the ‘grassroots people’ properly about the delegate conference.

However, Evah pointed out that the maiden delegate conference was to chart a new course for the game in the country, just as he revealed that the conference was to keep members informed about plans to take Roller Sports, which is an Olympics Sports, to the next level.

He disclosed that a web site had been created for the sport for people to get the latest information about the federation.
“This delegate conference will decide the date, venue and time suitable for take off of our league. You are quite aware that early this year, the Nigeria Olympic Committee gave full recognition to the Roller Sports Federation and inaugurated our executive committee members. We have plans to organize a national championship before the end of the year, so, we must see ourselves as servants and not masters so that we can avoid those things that will affect the development of our federation,” Evah stated.

Present at the maiden delegate conference were members from deferent parts of the country.
