The Home-based Eagles will have to beat Togo if they desired to play in another African Nations Championship (CHAN). The 2020 edition of the competition is scheduled to hold in Cameroon next year.

Togo qualified to face Nigeria in the final leg of the qualifiers by beating Benin Republic 1-0 over two legs.

In the last round of the qualifying series, Togo will host Nigeria in Lome on the weekend of September 20 to 22, while the reverse fixture will hold on the weekend of October 18 to 20, 2019.

If Nigeria beat Togo over two-leg, the CHAN Eagles will get another opportunity to vie for the crown they lost in the final match 0-4 to Morocco last year.

The competition is reserved for players based on their home countries to give them the opportunity to compete and gain international experience.

In the qualification series, 47 countries began the process with only 15 assured of featuring in the tournament scheduled to hold in Cameroon.

The date for the competition has not been stated as two teams will emerge from the Northern Zone, Western A Zone, Central-East Zone, while the Western B Zone, Central Zone, and Southern Zone will have three teams each.
