Sunshine Stars blame fatigue for Week 20 loss
Glo Premier league side, Sunshine Stars of Akure have attributed their Week 20 defeat to FC Taraba on fatigue.
The Akure based team lost the match played at the Jolly Nyame Stadium by a lone goal scored from the penalty spot in the first half.
Speaking after the match, head coach of the team, Kennedy Boboye, said the fatigue suffered by the team was responsible for the shock defeat.
He said: “It was very unfortunate that we lost the match. Our desire was to pick maximum victory, but football does not always turn out as planned. We worked really hard for this match and hoped for outright win.”
“We were derailed by the damage that happened to the gear of our bus on our way to the match. We made several attempts to fix the gear on time so that we could arrive the match venue on time, but could not achieve this and we had to stop in Gboko.
“We got to the match venue on the day of the game, which was not good for the team. We tried to get the players in good condition, but it did not work out well.”
“We just hope the players will recover from the defeat on time and brace up for the next match which is a must win if we hope to keep alive the ambition of celebrating gold at the end of the season.”
Coach Boboye restated the team’s determination to return to the top of the league table as soon as possible, adding, “We need to move on and focus on the remaining 18 matches.
