Sports Reform Committee begins three-day retreat tomorrow

The Sports Reform Committee recently inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, will take off with a three-day retreat in Lagos on Tuesday, the committee has revealed.

According to  a statement from the committee, two stakeholders – one each from the private and public sectors – will make closed-door presentations tomorrow, while Lagos-based sports editors have been invited for a lunch session on Wednesday at noon to rub minds with the committee.

The statement added: “The committee is determined to talk to as many stakeholders and interest groups as possible and sessions would be rotated between Abuja and Lagos. Well known ‘commentators’ in the academia and the public and private sectors who are outside these cities will be invited to make presentations. To make it a little easier for everyone memoranda or submissions of whatever kind could be sent to the email –”

Members of the committee, which has Godwin Kienka as chairman, are Vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and chairman of the Aquatic Federation, Babatunde Fatai-Williams, Chief Segun Odegbami, Col. Sam Ahmedu, Mary Onyali, Prof. Florence Adeyanju, Bola Orodele and Olukayode Thomas.

Others are Dr. Ademola Are, Waziri Laminu, Yusuf Datti, Despan Kwardem and Ayo Olubato.
The committee has 90 days to submit its report.
