It is that time of the year once again when the best golfers from across the country gather at the Smokin Hills Golf Resort Ilara Mokin in Ondo State to strut their stuff for the various prizes at stake and bragging rights. Smokin Hills is one of the leading golf courses in the West African sub-region and every year it hosts the late (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial Golf Tournament (EWOMGT), which celebrates the virtues of the late wife of Chief Michael Ade Ojo.

A two-day yearly tournament sponsored by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited ( TNL), this 15th edition will tee off on November 9 with the professionals opening the fray by 7:00 a.m., while the amateur men and ladies will take to the enduring topography of the Smokin Hills also at 7:00 a.m. the next day.

According to the sponsors of the tournament, TNL, the hole 13 has a N5 million prize and other mouth-watering goodies for the best.

According to the Public Relations and Advert Manager TNL, Mrs. Bukunola Ogunnusi, “This year’s Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial Golf Tournament (EWOMGT) promises to leave an enduring golfing experience that will be hard to miss.

“The objective of TNL management is to preserve the memory of Late Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo with all she lived for.

“One of the prizes to be won by golfers at the gala night climaxing the tournament is the Amiable Woman of The Tournament prize. This is a platform created by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited to further keep the vision of the deceased for the game of golf alive. It is also aimed at continually nurturing the legacy and virtue of industry amongst women golfers. Indeed, the prize is symbolic of the amiable nature of the departed woman of substance.”
