The scouts, some from top European teams as La Liga giant, Real Madrid, Premiership top club, Manchester United and FC Porto of Portugal, were at the stadium to run the rules over players 18 years and below paraded by more than 20 academies drawn from across the country. On hand to guide the scouts and the team were Super Eagles star, Mikel Agu’s agent, Chinedu Amadi and former national team player, Chikelue Iloanusi, among others.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the exercise, Senator Ogba said he invited the scouts from the big European clubs to select young talents and nurture them to stardom.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, who described sports as a unifying factor in Nigeria and the world in general, said the tournament was aimed at giving the less privileged but talented Ebonyi youths the opportunity to find better future using their skills. He revealed that those selected by the scouts would be invited by the different clubs for trials and if they were successful would be absorbed into the team.
