The final list of players that would prosecute this weekend’s 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Benin Republic will be out tomorrow, officials of the team have revealed.

Super Eagles’ Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, told The Guardian yesterday that the coach Salisu Yusuf-led CHAN team have a positive mindset to beat Benin Republic at home.

He noted that the players were working hard to impress the coaches in a bid to be in the party that would travel to Cotonou, adding that everything needed by the players and coaches to excel in the game have been put in place.

He also revealed that the coaches have been strictly monitoring the activities of every player in camp to ensure the best are selected for the CHAN qualifier.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles goalkeepers’ trainer, Ike Shorunmu has urged the home-based Eagles to avoid any form of complacency when they battle Benin Republic this weekend.

Shorunmu said the players should be 100 per cent focused to win the game away from home.

He also urged the foreign-based players that will be invited to face Cameroun in the 2018 World Cup qualifier to prepare for the game with one spirit, saying that patriotic zeal would help the Eagles to fly over the Indomitable Lions home and away in the World Cup qualifier.

“The CHAN Eagles should understand that no team is small in Africa and therefore ensure they secure victory away from home to put them in a right position to qualify for the CHAN.

“The foreign-based players should also brace up for the battle of their lives against Cameroun in the World Cup qualifier. I am delighted that most of them were with their teams in the pre-season games because this would go a long way in putting them in good shape and right spirit for the qualifier.”

“Every player in the Super Eagles team needs to understand that it is a big pride to play for the country,” he said.
