After its victory at the just concluded Oosom Games (One Man One Medal), where it won 213 medals (108 gold, 68 silver and 37 bronze medals) to emerge champion at the event attended by military and paramilitary organizations in the country, the Nigeria Police now plans to reclaim top spot in the nation’s sports sector.

Part of the plot is the construction of an ultra-modern sports secretariat complex along Shehu Shagari Way, Garki Central Area, Abuja. The complex is opposite the Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to Police Sports Officer, Aliyu Abubakar, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, the groundbreaking event will take off on December 21.It is believed that police’s recent exploits in various sports like the 2017 World Police Games in America, where it won five gold, five silver and two bronze medals despite being a first timer, the one gold and five silver medals it won at the recently held Governor Wike National Wrestling Championship in Port Harcourt, among other laurels, might have forced the IGP, Idris K. Ibrahim into believing, that the time is now ripe for the Police to have an Ultra Modern Force Sports Secretariat Complex.
