Defending champions, Kano Pillars, have fortified their squad with six new players, just as they have released five players in renewed effort to retain their title.

Pillars recently sacked their coach, Okay Emordi, in a bid to halt the team’s poor showing in the 2015/2016 season.

The new player joining the champions are Bala Mohammed (free agent), Nazifi Ammani (free agent), Bala Zaka (Enyimba),  Ezekiel Bassey (free agent), Emmanuel Olowo (Sunshine Stars), Kabiru Umar (Enyimba) and 2013 U-17 world cup winner, Zaharaddeen Bello from Dabo babes.

The five players released on mutual consent include Benin Republic international Isaac Loute.

The champions are sixth on the league log with 34 points from 22 matches and have now retired to the Sani Abacha Stadium where they have a date with Shooting Stars Sports Club in a Matchday 23 on Sunday.
