More than 49 international stars from across the world are expected to participate in the Ambode Wrestling Tournament, a competition put together to celebrate Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s achievements.

The festival tagged, A+A Intercontinental Wrestle Force Championship, will hold between December 4 and 18 in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

According to the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Otunba Dengel Anifowoshe, the competition will give budding wrestlers in the state the opportunity of testing their craft against international stars and also present an opportunity for the state to exhibit its cultural heritage.

He said, “This is an international tournament, which will feature about 49 wrestlers from across the world. Lagos will be the focus of the world for the duration of two weeks we are staging this tournament and we believe we need the media to support our efforts in reaching out to Lagosians and our prospective sponsors.”

Anifowoshe solicited the support of Nigerians, especially the media, to make the event successful, adding, “the A+A Intercontinental Wrestle Force Championship is borne out of the policy of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to use sports as a vehicle to keep our teeming youths busy and expose the tourism potentials of Lagos to outside world.”

The coordinator of the championship, Prince Hammed Olanrewaju Mohammed, thanked the governor for accepting the offer to be celebrated. He, however, added that aside from the wrestling tournament, “the event will also witness a beauty contest tagged Miss Bolanle Patience Ambode Beauty Pageant Lagos 2016.”

At the parley were Alhaji Rasak Lawal, who is representing the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, in the LOC among other dignitaries and committee members.
