Only NFF will determine my future, says Imama
Nigeria U-23 national team coach, Imama Amapakabo has revealed that only the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) would determine his future with the national team.
Nigeria missed out on a chance to be part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic football event after crashing out of the ongoing CAF U23 AFCON in Egypt.
Imama’s side needed an outright victory against South Africa to qualify for the semi-finals, but fell short after playing a goalless result and Cote d’Ivoire pipped Zambia. The result means Nigeria U23 team will not be participating at next year’s Olympics in Tokyo, prompting call for Imama’s sack.
However, Imama who also failed to succeed in the WAFU Cup nor qualify for the CHAN 2020, concedes that his fate was not in his hands.“It is totally out of my hands. We have to look at the future; this has ended, whichever way we want to look at it,” Imama told www.brila.net.
“And it depends on what the federation wants in terms of going forward.” Nigeria lost their opening game in Egypt 0-1 to Cote d’Ivoire, beat Zambia 3-1 and drew goalless with South Africa.
