Ondo basketball association preaches youth empowerment
The Ondo State basketball association has charged governments at all levels to channel more resources towards youth sports development programmes next year.
In Christmas and New Year messages signed by the association’s chairman, Olusegun Ikuesan, and the Media Officer, Isaac Afolabi, the association described the yuletide as the period to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ that centred on love, humility, and selfless service to humanity and holiness.
He also advocated more support from stakeholders and organisations to promote sports and engage youths to be more productive in the country.Ikuesan urged sports philanthropists and team owners to improve on the welfare of sportsmen and always organize competitions, which, he noted, would help the nation to regain its glory in global sports.
He thanked the OSBBA executive members for helping the process of reviving the game, saying it has since gained attraction and development.
