Super Falcons Coach, Florence Omagbemi, may introduce new players in today’s last group match against the ladies from Kenya in the on-going 10th African Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroun.

The Falcons currently top Group B on superior goal difference against the Black Queens of Ghana with both teams having four points from two matches, following their 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

The Ghanaians, who have since relocated from Limbe to the nation’s capital, Yaounde, have vowed to beat Mali in their last group match today with six goals to brighten their chances of topping the group and avoid the host, Lionesses of Cameroun in the semifinal.

But the coach Omagbemi-led Falcons are also looking for a way to avoid the Camerounians in the semi. A source close to the technical crew told The Guardian yesterday that some changes might be carried out in the Falcon, particularly the striking line up for today’s game. The Kenyans are already out following their 3-1 second defeat to Mali on Wednesday after suffering a similar score line to Ghana in their first match.

Coach Omagbemi it was learnt may bring back Norway-based striker, Uchechi Sunday, to pair the duo of Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega, leaving out France-based Desire Okparanozie, who has been battling fitness test since arriving in Cameroun. She was a substitute in the game against Ghana.

The Falcons coach is said to be considering introducing some other players who have not tested action since the competition started. Players like Ijeoma Obi, who plays for Sunshine Queens of Akure and Turkey-based forward, Esther Sunday, may have the opportunity of playing against the Kenyans this afternoon at the Omisport Stadium in Limbe.

There were insinuations in the team’s camp that some players were ‘ganging up’ against top scorer, Asisat Oshoala, after she netted four goals against Mali in the opening group match. Though one of the team’s officials yesterday waved it aside, saying: “There is nothing of such in the team. All the players are united and the focus is to win retain the trophy.”Unlike the two group matches, which started at 4pm, today’s game against Kenya will begin by 7pm.
