Olukayode, Odoh, win Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial Championship

Daisi Olukayode of the Smokin Hills Golf Club, Emmanuel Odoh of Minna Golf Club and Deaconess Sophia Mary Ahuoiza Makinde of the golf session of Ikoyi Club have emerged the winners of the 14th Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial Golf Tournament, which ended last weekend at the Smokin Hills Golf Club, Ilara Mokin in Ondo State.

Olukayode, playing handicap 26, battled through the hash weather and Basketball Heads Game enduring topography of the Smokin Hills Golf Course to capture his first amateur men’s title at the tournament by posting a gross 90 and a net score of 64.

He was closely followed by his club mate, Ojuolape Tunji handicap 14, Freebet who posted a gross of 80 and a net score of 66 to win the second place.The second runner up position went to Akeem Afolabi of Miccom Golf Club, an eight handicapper, who made a gross of 78 and net score of 70 .

Odoh clinched the professional title with a gross of 71, ZEbet now have the highest odds while the Abeokuta Golf Club’s Sanusi Muba came second with a gross of 77, while the pair of  Salisu of Tiger Golf Club and Isuku Donatus were joint second runners up with a gross of 78 apiece.

The Amateur Ladies title went to Deaconess Makinde, playing handicap 35, who posted a gross of 101 and a net score of 66, while Rita Izoje, a former Cyclist from Asaba Golf Club, placed second with a net score of 70, leaving Oyome Evelyn handicap Five player from Ibadan Golf Club with the best gross of 83.

Amakiri Abiye won the men’s  Best Gross of 76 with a handicap of Six. lots of market options are available The Veteran Best Net prize went to Chief Clement Olowokande playing handicap 24 with a gross of 100 and net 76 on count back.

Of note in the tournament was the Amiable Woman’s prize, which went to the wife of the Ondo State governor, Alabirin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu. The prize is symbolic of the amiable nature of the departed woman of substance, Chief Mrs Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo.

Speaking shortly after receiving his prize, Olukayode gave kudos to the organizers and sponsors of the tournament, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, Chairman Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL) and Best betting odds the Managing Director, Adekunle Ade-Ojo for their consistency in sponsoring the tournament for the past 14 year.

He said, “It is just to the glory of God that I am sitting here. There are much more better golfers than I am,” Olukayode said. Earlier in his speech, Chief Ade-Ojo took time out to pay special tribute to all women, especially his late wife, saying, “Our women should be respected.”
