The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba, will lead a large delegation to Cotonou, Benin Republic this morning to cheer the Home-based Super Eagles in the 2018 African Nations Championship qualifying match away to the Squirrels. The encounter takes place tomorrow.

Okumabga told The Guardian yesterday that the Supporters Club members would begin their jouney from Teslim Balogun Stadium this morning for Cotonou with a sizeable number of people to give the coach Salisu Yusuf-led Eagles the support they need to silence the host in tomorrow’s clash.

The contingent, according to Okumagba, will leave in two buses and other cars at 7am for Cotonou. “The two buses will carry members who have indicated interest for the trip and some other cars will also be in the convoy. We hope to get there early to mobilise some Nigerians in Cotonou to come out in large number to cheer the Eagles to victory against the host country,” Okumagba stated.

He hinted that the next assignment for the Supporters Club would be the all-important Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers between the Super Eagles and Indomitable Lions of Cameroun in September in Uyo and Yaounde.

He said: “As soon as we return from Cotonou, our focus will be on the World Cup qualifier in Uyo and Yaounde. We hope to moblise our members in all states of the federation and nearby countries for that encounter because we have to give the Eagles the support they need to cage the Lions. We have to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.”

Okumabga revealed that some corporate organisations had already identified with them in his bid to build a new look Supporters Club.

Coach Salisu Yusuf had on Thursday named his squad for tomorrow’s 2018 African Nations Championship qualifying match away to Benin Republic.
