NRFF scouts for more foreign-based players, begins preparation for Africa Cup 15s Championship
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation’s (NRFF) technical team says it is scouting for more foreign-based players to join their home-based counterparts in making the Black Stallions a formidable team at the Africa Cup 15s Championship slated for Morocco from July 9 to 17.
NRFF Technical Director, Fasimoye Olatunji, says Rugby Africa has informed the federation of a meeting in Morocco to finalise plans for the tournament, adding that the federation is not resting on its oars in the build-up to the championship.
According to Fasimoye, the national team will spend 10 days in Rabat, Morocco before the tournament kicks off to enable the local and foreign based players blend properly.”
“We are waiting on Rugby Africa to give NRFF more information on the African Championship, this will assist us intensify our plans for the tournament,” he added.
The Black Stallions will face Morocco, Cameroun, and Mauritius in the tournament in the battle for promotion to Africa Cup 1B, which is a step closer to qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
