NOC Inaugurates 13 Team Nigeria Committees
The Nigeria Olympic Committee has inaugurated 13 committees and commissions in preparation for the 2015 All Africa Games and the 2016 Olympics.
Unveiling the committees in Lagos on Thursday, NOC President, Habu Gumel, said creating the bodies was in line with the provisions of the International Olympic Charter and the NOC Statutes.
“These subsidiary governing bodies are not only advisory but equally essential in the promotion of Olympic values and the effective implementation of Olympic Movement objectives,” Gumel said.
“This NOC administration has adopted a broad base approach in the appointment of ad hoc committees and commissions, in line with our vision of expanding the scope of our operations to cover vital departments of Olympism.”
Dr. Daniel Igali heads the Technical Development Committee, while Babatunde Fatayi-Williams heads the Marketing Committee. The Medical & Scientific Committee has Dr. Akin Amao as Chairman, just as Mary Oyali-Omagbemi heads Women & Sport Committee.
Gumel is Chairman of Liaison Committee, and Enefiok Udo-Obong is the head of Athletes Committee. The Olympic Education Committee is headed by Ibrahim Mohammed, while Henry Amike heads Sports For All Commission.
Tijanni Umar heads the Sports & Environment Commission, and Justice Sanche Danlami is Chairman of the Ethics & Appeal Committee. The Anti-doping Committee is headed by Major General Johnny Hamakim, while Dokun Abolarin is Chairman of the Culture Commission. Dr. Solomon Ogba heads the Olympic Africa Development Commission.
