No Nigerian referee for Women Cup of Nations in Cameroun

The championship, which has the Super Falcons of Nigeria as defending champion, will run from November 19 to December 3 in the Cameroonian cities of Yaoundé and Limbe.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has again passed what appears another vote of no confidence in Nigerian referees, as the body released names of 11 centre referees for the 10th African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon without a single Nigerian official.

The championship, which has the Super Falcons of Nigeria as defending champion, will run from November 19 to December 3 in the Cameroonian cities of Yaoundé and Limbe.

While Nigerian referees were missing on the list of centre referees, two Kenyans were among the 11 that will officiate in the chmapionship.

However, one Nigerian, Mimisen Agatha Iyorhe was listed among the 14 assistant referees for the competition.

The two Kenyan officials are Carolyne Wanjala, who has been named as part of the centre referees and Mary Njoroge, who will be among the assistant referees’ list.

The latter will be the only official from the East Africa region, for the assistant role in the tournament, which will be held Host Cameroon, Egypt, South Africa and Zimbabwe make up Group A whilst holders Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Mali are in Group B.
