NCC advocates proper funding for tennis’ revival
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has advocated proper funding of tennis to revive the sport, which once placed on the world map.
According to the company, unless the game was given the sort of attention football and some other sports enjoy, it would not flourish and make waves in international tournaments, as well as yield laurels for the country.
Speaking on Saturday before the semifinals of the NCC Tennis League at the Enugu Sports Club, the commission’s Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, affirmed the body’s
commitment to tennis development.
Danbatta, who was represented by the Commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Ojobo, said: “People just know us as the telecomms regulator in Nigeria but of course, we also feel that there is need for us to give back to Nigeria in some way.
