Otto Joseph, popularly known as ‘Joe Boy,’ has vowed to teach his Ghanaian opponent, Anma Dotse a bitter lesson on March 26 when they clash in Ibadan in a West African lightweight contest.

One of Nigeria’s fast rising boxers, Otto Joseph, popularly known as ‘Joe Boy,’ has vowed to teach his Ghanaian opponent, Anma Dotse a bitter lesson on March 26 when they clash in Ibadan in a West African lightweight contest.

The bout is one of seven events lined up for the 11th edition of GOtv Boxing Night at the Indoor Sports Hall, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. After staging 10 editions of the event in Lagos, organizers of the GOtv Boxing Night, Flykite Productions decided to move it to other parts of the country with Ibadan as first port of call. Boxing fans across the land have hailed the decision.

Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, Bamidele Johnson, said the idea to take the 11th edition outside Lagos for the first time is to carry other states along.

“We decided to take the event outside Lagos because of the call by boxing fans that they want to have a feel of what GOtv Boxing Night is all about,” Johnson said. Other parts of the country will soon also enjoy Gotv Boxing.”

Speaking with The Guardian on his readiness for the West African lightweight contest, Otto Joseph said though he did not know much about his Ghanaian opponent, he had trained hard enough to over come whatever challenge Dotse would bring.

“I have been told that my opponent from Ghana is taller, but I know how to deal with such people. I am going to package him back to Ghana because Ibadan is my home. I will make my fans happy by beating Dotse so silly on that day,” Joseph stated.

Other bouts lined up for the day include the national bantamweight six-round contest between Sadiq Adeleke and Taiwo Kareem, just as Waliu Arogundade will fight Rilwan Babatunde in an eight-round national light welterweight challenge.

Sule Olagbade and Wahab Adebisi will slug it out in a national lightweight eight-round challenge, while Adewale Masebinu will try Kabiru Towolawi for size in an eight-round national light heavyweight challenge.

Also, Olaide Fijabi will face Sadiq Abdullahi in a 12-round national light welterweight rematch, while Akeem Dodo will do battle with Saka Kazeem in an eight-round national light middleweight challenge clash.
