In its bid to boost the morale of Nigerian athletes and officials in the fast approaching London 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championship and other international competitions slated for this year, the Making of Champions (MoC) has sealed a partnership deal with three companies, Eroton, Midwestern and Notore.

At a ceremony in Lagos on Thursday, MoC said its partnership with Eroton, an exploration and production company, Midwestern Oil & Gas and Notore Chemical Industries Plc would go a long way in turning around the nation’s athletics.

While Midwestern will sponsor the MoC media team to both local and international trips, covering athletics competitions that Nigerian athletes will be participating in this season, Notore’s deal is to ensure that athletes managed by MoC have the best conditions to flourish in their careers.

External and Government Relations Manager of Eroton, Mercy Max-Ebibal said her company would continue to support MoC’s bid to revive Nigeria’s athletics.

On her part, the External Affairs Manager of Midwestern, Love Uchegbu said their Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) initiatives have encompassed a wide range of activities, including the award of several secondary school and university scholarships, adding that it had been thrilled with the work that Making of Champions’ Media has been doing to promote athletics in Nigeria over the last few years.

“This year, we’re delighted to support MoC’s live social media coverage of the World Championships in London, the World Student Games in Taipei and the World Youth Championships in Kenya, amongst other competitions in which Nigeria and other African nations will compete at.

Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate Communications of Notore, Ngozi Mba has disclosed the company, a leading fertiliser and agro-allied company located at Onne sea port in the Niger Delta region, partnered MoC to sponsor its Athletics Track Club based in Lagos to improve the lives of athletes across Nigeria.

“Since the start of the year, we have been sponsoring training for up to nine athletes in Lagos and Ibadan. They are attending Universities such as University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, and Yaba College of Technology, as they prepare for the athletics season.

Nine athletes are in the MoC track club in Lagos under Coach Deji Aliu, the 2004 Olympic medallist, with many others in different centers across Nigeria.
