Makinde pledges support for Ibadan Club
Oyo State Governor-elect, Seyi Makinde has pledged to continue supporting the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) in its bid to rank among the best in the country, saying the sport held a special place in his heart.
Makinde, who joined lady golfers at the IGC to celebrate the annual 2019 Ladies Open, which ended at the weekend, believes the club has the potential for producing quality golfers.
The governor-elect, who is a member of the club, played nine holes of competitive golf on Thursday, five holes on Saturday and also graced the closing ceremony of the two-in-one event.
Speaking during the dinner and closing ceremony, Makinde restated his commitment to the activities of the club and development of golf, pledging to pay attention to the game in terms of promotion and funding when he is sworn in.
Thanking Makinde, who attended the event with his wife, for choosing to identify withy them, the IGC Lady Captain, Dr. Tope Farombi urged Mrs. Makinde to also embrace the game by joining the ladies’ section of the IGC.
