LOC declares Lagos ready for 2017 Taekwondo Classics

The local organizing committee (LOC) has declared its readiness for the 2017 Lagos State Taekwondo Classics billed to hold from Thursday to November 25 at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Multipurpose Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Speaking during the Grand Master Koffi Anani’s kiddies championship held at the Lagos State Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba, the LOC Chairman, Jimmy Ogunowo, who is also the chairman of the Lagos State Taekwondo Association, said that all logistics that will aid the successful hosting of the championship were already in place awaiting the start-off date.

Ogunowo added that his committee is planning for a refresher course and seminar for all the technical officials ahead of the championship, adding that the seminar, which will be conducted by a foreign expert, is aimed at updating the knowledge of the technical officials with the latest rules governing the sport in order to minimize mistakes and at the same time avoid controversies.

With the teams from Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Seychelles and Benin Republic expected to start arriving in Lagos on Wednesday, the chairman assured that adequate security arrangement is already in place to guarantee their safety.

He thanked their sponsors and commended the various committees for working round the clock to ensure a hitch-free taekwondo classics.
