As the World Cup Ends Tomorrow
Former Internationals have urged all football-loving Lagosians to be at the eight viewing centres to enjoy the fun the final of the Russia 2018 World Cup between France and Croatia will bring by watching on the large screen provided by the state and its partner.

The centres were established by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission with the support of International Breweries Plc, for Lagosians to be in the ambience of the World Cup, which ends tomorrow in Russia.

At the Teslim Balogun Stadium centre, 60 former Internationals were at the centre to give their support to the initiative and interacting and taking questions from the fans.

Friday Elaho, who described the centres as a welcome idea, thanked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his enthusiasm on the sport.

“This is why you see all of us former internationals coming together to support his initiative,” he said.

The Supervisor for Agriculture, Youth and Sports, Surulere Local Government, Taju Disu, on his part described the centres as fantastic, while giving kudos to the state sports commission its facilitation. “Governor Ambode has done well for this laudable project and has surpassed what people think he can do”

Waidi Akanni, who described their presence at the centre as an honour, said they were there to give support to the governor’s initiative and also appreciate Lagos for the recognition bestowed on them.

At the occasion, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, told the former Internationals that the state and nation would always honour them for their sacrifice, while assuring them they will never be forgotten for what they have done.
