Lagos Tennis Club To Host 21st Quadrangular Games
THIS year’s Quadrangular Games among the four elite social clubs in Lagos, including the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club (LLTC), Ikoyi Club, Apapa Club and Lagos Country Club, will take place at the LLTC Onikan between November 15 and 21,, the organisers have revealed.
The Games, which is being organised in partnership with Sterling Bank Plc., will feature Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis and Squash. Others include Dart, Ayo, Draft, Chess Tug-of-War, Billiard and Snookers.
Speaking at the flag off of the Games on Tuesday, the LLTC Chairman, Barrister Rotimi Edu, said this edition will be part of the celebrations of the “120 years anniversary of the biggest tennis club in Africa that played host to great tennis champions like the William sisters, Captain Yemisi Allan and Nduka Odizor and a host of other African internationals.
“In view of the importance of the tournament, the club and her facilities have been upgraded in readiness for the competition whilst efforts are ongoing to secure sponsorship from well meaning sports philanthropists.”
Also speaking at the event, the Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prince Bowo Olateru Olagbegi: said, “for club members, the Games have become an occasion to engage in competitive sports, excel and win prizes in addition to meeting and making new friends. The 2015 edition begins the fourth cycle of the Games and the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club is playing host.”
