As part of efforts to develop sports in its tertiary institutions, the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) on Thursday donated different equipment to

The LSSC explained that donating the equipment was part of the state’s drive to sustain sports among youths in the country.

He urged the commission not to relent in paying keen interest in LASU’s sports development.

“We thank the Lagos State Sports Commission for donating the sports equipment to this noble institution of learning. The University can’t stop to ask for more like Oliver Twist.

“The University community is happy with this gesture, but we plead that the commission pays more interest in ensuring that the sports complex meets international standard.

“The sports equipment donated would draw our students’ interest in sports and help them succeed in their chosen career,” he said.

Earlier, the LSSC Director General, Tunde Bank-Anthony said the Commission donated the equipment to LASU to further reinstate its commitment to develop sports in the state.

He assured the vice chancellor that more infrastructure would be put in place to develop sports facilities in LASU.

“After inspecting facilities at the LASU Sports Complex, I am highly impressed with what I saw. At the Commission’s next forum, one of the key issues we would address is to get more funds to improve the sports facilities in LASU.

“The commission will not relent in making LASU a hub in sports among Nigerian tertiary institutions. We hope the equipment will aid the students to train and improve their skills for future engagements,” he said

Among the equipment donated to the school are complete table tennis boards, table tennis bat rubber, table tennis balls, complete basketball upright, Spalding leather basketball, Mikasa volleyball, volleyball nets and upright, powerlifting benches, powerlifting weights, waist belts, match balls, powerlifting wheelchairs, basketball wheelchairs, complete skateboards and table tennis nets.
