Chairman of Nigeria’s Beach Soccer Committee, Solomon Yahaya Kwande, as well as players and officials of the beach soccer national team, the SuperSand Eagles, have thanked Kinetic Sports, organisers of COPA Lagos, for arranging the international encounter between Nigeria and the Swiss beach soccer team before the on-going African Beach Soccer Nations Cup.

The Super Sand Eagles told reporters on Tuesday at the Eko Atlantic, venue of the African Beach Soccer Nations Cup, that the match was the perfect test for the team in preparation of the 2016 edition of the continental championship.

They specifically thanked Mr. Samson Adamu for the Swiss test match, describing it as the perfect wake-up call they needed before their opening game against Egypt on Tuesday.

Nigeria lost 8-3 to the Swiss at the COPA Lagos beach soccer tournament, which preceded the on-going African Beach Soccer Nations Cup.

“More kudos to Kinetic Sports Management, who put all arrangements in place for the Beach Soccer Nations Cup. Congratulations to Samson Adamu and his team for a wonderful job,” said Kwande.

Coach of SuperSand Eagles, Audu Adamu, added: “The Swiss match was a good test for my team. First, playing against a group of professionals exposed the lapses in my team, which I quickly corrected before the first game against the Egyptian National beach soccer team.”

In the game against Egypt, which Nigeria won 3-2, Skipper Isiaka Olawale opened scores for the SuperSand Eagles in the first quarter, while Emeka Ogbonna increased the tally shortly after, but the North Africans came back strongly to draw level 2-2.

However, five minutes into the third quarter of the game, Ogbonna struck the winner to ensure the Beach Eagles picked the maximum three points.
