The fifth edition of Konamii Africa Inter-orphanage homes/yearly charity soccer fiesta Lagos edition will hold on August 5 at the Mini Campus Stadium, Lagos Island with promises of funfair and security by the organisers.

Konamii is a football competition organised yearly among orphanage homes where they get the chance to take part in the game of football. It is also an occasion where the public is encouraged to donate cash, clothes, books and etc to the less-privileged children.

Speaking at the event to herald the competition, the Founder and President of Konamii, Mr. Olajide Olabisi, said the one-day event was put together to celebrate and meet both the immediate and long-term needs of the orphanage homes, with several personalities from all works of life expected.

He said the focus was to change Africa in the areas of education, public health and sports etc.

According to him, Konami was set up to narrow the space between the privilege and the less privileged in the society, noting that the project has seen progression since it began in 2013, from the four orphanage homes to eight this year.

“Orphanage homes are fast fading away globally but the primary assignment is to move the destitute out of the streets and give them life and a new beginning.

“Konami is also partnering with Sterling Bank on a long term basis to achieve this idea, whereby the bank will visit these orphanage homes and help them build needful structures.

“Change Africa Foundation had shouldered the sponsorship in the past but with Merristem Securities and Sterling Bank coming on board, the financial burden has since lessened.

“It is worthy of note to announce that the sponsorship is financial, product and idea based,” Olamide stated.
