Jones extends United deal
Manchester United defender Phil Jones has extended his contract with the Premier League club until at least June 2019, the Old Trafford outfit confirmed on Monday.
The 23-year-old England international with 17 caps signed from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 and has played at full-back, central defender and central midfielder for United in that time.
His form and attitude have impressed the hard to please Dutch coach Luis van Gaal.
“We are delighted that Phil has signed a new contract,” van Gaal said. “He is a talented footballer with great versatility and can play in a number of positions.”
The player himself was also upbeat saying: “This is a great club to be part of and I cannot wait to start the new campaign. I would like to thank the manager, coaching staff and fans for their continued support.”
