It’s a new dawn for supporters club in Nigeria, says Okumagba

Newly elected National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Vincent Okumagba, has promised a new lease of life in the affairs of the club.

According to him, all elected officers from the recently held national delegates’ election have pledged to focus on issues that would redirect the mission of the club for greater accomplishments.

The election held December 10 at the Abuja National Stadium, produced Abayomi Ogunjimi, as the First Vice National Chairman; Anyaorah C. Michael, as Second Vice Chairman; Abubakar G. Mohammed, Third Vice Chairman; Mrs. Oluwakemi Popoola, National Secretary; Oladejo M. Akinloye, Treasurer; Nnadi C. David, Financial Secretary; Alawode S. Ademola, Assistant Social Secretary; Olutoye A. Orishabiyi, PRO; Nwanolue N. Blessing, Welfare Officer; and Enendu O. Nwabuezi, as the Chief Whip.

Okumagba said the newly elected officers are spurred to give birth to a new supporters club in the country.

“It is a new birth for supporters club in Nigeria. The new national executive members reflect a true national spread unlike in the past where it was always a coded affair.

“I am reassuring all that there will be no more distractions again. This fresh mandate must be defended and the results will rub off handsomely on members and the national teams,” he said.

Okumagba, who called on all partners to continue to show faith in the newly constituted club, assured them that the years of obstruction in the club’s affairs is over.

He said the presence of the Sports Ministry, Nigeria Football Federation and other stakeholders gave the election the needed credibility.

“It was the authentic 2016 election of the club, as all those that were supposed to be there were present to cast their vote.

“After the 2012 Lagos charade that was marred by fraud, irregularities and led to court action, which lingered until the NFF in its wisdom stepped in and reconciled us and we agreed for December 10. The resolution of that meeting fixed the election for Abuja, of which I was part and parcel of as the leader of the club never objected,” Okumagba said.
