IBB, Ikoyi Club, Smokin Hills, Le Meriden, Ikeja listed among the world’s best courses
Five of Nigeria’s golf courses, including the IBB Country and Golf Club, Ikoyi Club, Smokin Hills, Le Meridien Ibom Resort and the Ikeja Golf Club have been listed among the world’s best golf courses.
In a report by golfdigest.com, which looked at courses from Anguila to Zimbabwe, IBB Country Club was listed as Nigeria’s number one, with Ikoyi Club, Smokin Hills, Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Gold Resort, Uyo and Ikeja Golf Club coming in that order.
The survey looked at golf courses in 206 countries and lists Nigeria as having 50 golf courses on the whole. Nigeria is the second in Africa in terms of number of courses per country.
Interestingly, some countries like Iraq, Yemen, Guinea, Montenegro, Somalia and Eritrea, among others, do not have any golf course.
South Africa has the highest number of courses, 450, in Africa, while the United States with 15, 620 has the highest number of courses in the world, with Augusta listed as the best in that country.
