I will floor Oladosu at ‘Fight of The Decade’, ABU champion Joe Boy boasts

African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight champion, Oto ‘Joe Boy’ Joseph has told his challenger, West African Boxing Union (WABU) lightweight champion, Rilwan ‘Real One’ Oladosu, to stop bragging ahead of their bout tagged ‘Fight of The Decade.’Joe Boy ruled himself out of any boxing contest last year following an injury he sustained while training in Lagos for the bout earlier scheduled for October 12.

The ABU titleholder suffered a shoulder injury in the build up to the fight while training with his sparring partner.Joy Boy and Real One are considered the best boxers in the country, and the October 12 contest would have settled the issue of ‘who is the true champion’ between the two pugilists. Oladosu is the challenger for the ABU title.

At first, organisers of the fight moved it to the last week of December 2019, but it did not hold after Joe Boy declared that he was not fully fit.Now, the ABU champion, Joe Boy says he would be ready for the fight in two months time, and that Oladosu would pay dearly for his bragging:

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Joe Boy said: “I am gradually getting over the shoulder injury, and I will be fully fit for the fight in two months time. I want people who are close to Oladosu to tell him to stop boasting. I am going to beat him like a baby on that day. I know him very well, and I know what I am capable of doing inside the ring,” he stated.

There were initial fears last year that Joe Boy might be stripped of the ABU title after the injury prevented him from the ‘Fight of The Decade’ against Oladosu in the last week of December. But the African boxing body was said to have given him a ‘grace’ after seeing the extent of the injury.

The challenger, Oladosu, had launched series of verbal attacks on Joe Boy, describing him (Joe Boy) as a coward and boxer with limited ability. He boasted that he would expose the ABU champion’s limitations in a brutal fashion. “I know him very well. He is my boy. I know what he can do and what he can’t. He relies on raw power. He has no boxing brain. But raw power can only work against low-grade boxers. I’m not in that category. The ABU title is for me. His limited ability has taken him as far as it can. It is the end of the road for him,” Oladosu had stated after training at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in preparation for the postponed October 12 bout.
