IN what promises to be a ‘great moment,’ over 200 golfers are expected to do battle for the available prizes staked in the net and gross categories, as the 5th edition of the Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAMF) golf tournament tees off next weekend. It will hold at the golf section of Ikoyi club 1938 on February 7.

Chairman of the organizing committee of DOAM Foundation Charity Tournament, Pat Bassey, said that this year’s edition would be more rewarding for all the participants.

“There will be plenty of fun for all the participants and it is going to be a great outing,” Bassey said.

He hinted that preparations for the event had been on the card since the third quarter of 2014, adding that some corporate organizations have shown commitment to the event.

“This is our 5th year of staging the tournament and the goodwill and enthusiasm towards it and the foundation continues to be impressive”, Bassey said.

The Daniel Akujobi Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament was put in place in 2006 in honour of Master Daniel Ogechi Akujobi, who died in a ghastly car accident on his way to school in 2006.

According to the organisers, the DOAM Foundation Golf tourney is attracting more attention from corporate organization because of the ‘transparency’ in its operations.

Some major projects taken by the Foundation so far from the proceeds of the charity golf event was building and procuring medical equipment, including a fully-fitted ambulance to support the Accident and Trauma Centre at Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
