Guebre Boukary and Idrissu Ayambire of Burkina Faso and Ghana Basketball Federations respectively confirmed their participation having registered with the FIBA Africa Secretariat, the coordinator of the event.

Zone Three Board President, Col Sam Ahmedu (Rtd), who attended the second meeting of the Organizing Committee, also confirmed the participation of the eight countries under the zone.

“I am glad to confirm to you that the all the National Federations under the Zone have confirmed participation through letters and emails. I can also confirm that they have registered their teams with the FIBA Africa 3×3 department in Abidjan. Some of the National Federation Presidents have also called in to assure us of their presence during the period of the Tournament.”

A breakdown of the entries shows that the Togo Basketball Federation are fielding players in all the categories namely U-18 Boys, U-18 Girls, Senior men, Senior Women and in the Mixed Team Category. Benin Republic Basketball Federation President, Alex Paraisso, says it won’t be any different for his country too as they are set to compete in all the categories, which also goes for Nigeria, Ghana, Niger Republic and Cote d’Ivoire Basketball Federations.

However, Burkina Faso Basketball Federation has indicated its interest to participate only in the U18 Boys and U18 Girls categories, but with a caveat that it may still enter teams in the Senior Men and Women Categories.
