One of Nigeria’s brightest prospects in international golf, Georgia Oboh has begun her quest to garner points for the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), which will give her the opportunity to feature in more tour events.

Georgia Oboh is currently featuring in the Jabra Ladies Open holding at the Evian Resort Golf Club, Evian les Bains, France.

One of Nigeria’s brightest prospects in international golf, Georgia Oboh has begun her quest to garner points for the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), which will give her the opportunity to feature in more tour events. The event is the Jabra Ladies Open 2017, an Evian Championship European qualifier holding in France.

Playing at the Jabra Ladies Open against some of the best emerging stars in the sport is expected to prepare Oboh for the several competitions she has lined up, including the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for Argentina later this year. This is apart from giving her the points that would make her eligible for more championships in the European Tour.

The JABRA Ladies Open is holding at the Evian Resort Golf Club, Evian les Bains, and it ends tomorrow. Before leaving for France last week, Georgia affirmed that playing at the Jabra Open would help her to make the LETAS cut.

“After some wholesome practice in sunny Lagos, Nigeria I feel very confident in my game as I begin this event. As my first tournament/visit to France, regardless of the outcome I plan on enjoying every moment here in Evian-les-Bains (home of Evian Water). My ideal weekend result would be a first LETAS cut made and possibly a top 30 finish.

“This is part of the building blocks in my golfing career, onward from Evian I continue on to Buckinghamshire Golf Club in London to play in the European zone qualifier for the most significant tournament in women’s golf in the world, the US Women’s Open Golf Championship.”

Oboh revealed that she still has some interesting championship to feature in, including the “Ladies British Amateur Golf Championships organised by R&A, the only elite women’s amateur golf competition contested in the UK.

“In addition, I will continue in my preparation as I attempt to qualify for the US Girls’ Junior organised by USGA. With several competitions in the United States upcoming this summer. All of the events are in my preparation to represent my country Nigeria in the fast approaching Youth Olympics 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.”

She believes the opportunity to compete in the Youth Olympics will give the chance to measure her development against that of her peers, adding, “I will like to thank the Minister of Sports, NOC and the NGF for pushing forward for Nigeria to be present at the Youth Olympics 2018.

“I am also grateful to Nigerian Golf Federation’s (NGF) Youth Development Officer, Aunty Emmy Ekong, who has worked so much all these years for us to be considered. My dream for Nigeria is to make it great again and put us at the top in sports worldwide.”
