Funfest as Bundesliga Legends Tour ends in Lagos
It was a festival of football, comedy and music over the weekend when StarTimes and Bundesliga International feted their fans and customers at the Fun Factory in Lagos.
The event marked the end of the three-day Bundesliga Legends Tour, in which former Super Eagles captain, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, a former Bundesliga star, thrilled the fans from April 25 to 27.
Other Bundesliga representatives were also in Nigeria to interact with fans of the German league, StarTimes subscribers and to promote the league among Nigerian youths and football lovers.
Part of the activities to celebrate the Fan Fest held on Saturday was a five-a-side football competition for children within the age bracket of 8 and 13 from selected schools. They were fully kitted with different Bundesliga clubs’ jerseys, including that of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, RB Leipzig, Schalke 04 and TSG Hoffenheim.
In the competition for the six teams in the children’s category, Ghetto Light lost 6-7 on penalties to Ablaze after goalless ending in regulation time.
Apart from the sports and video games experienced by the children, there was also a celebrity match among staff of the German Embassy in Nigeria, StarTimes, The Bundesliga Legend and media practitioners.
The presence of former Super Eagles captain and Bundesliga legend, Okocha added glamour to the celebrity five-a-side football competition. Okocha emerged the highest goal scorer and Most Valuable Player in the celebrity mini tournament.
The fans also had the opportunity to watch two live matches involving Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04, which ended 4-2 in favour of the away team, while Stuttgart defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0.
