The President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has raised the alarm over what he described as ‘criminal activities’ by some people, who are using the name of the Supporters Club to dupe unsuspecting Nigerians.

In particular, Ladipo alleged yesterday in a chat with The Guardian that the ‘criminals’ have opened a facebook account with his name just to give credibility to their dubious activities.

“I neither operate any facebook nor a twitter account because I know that so many people use social media to carry out dubious activities. These fraudsters used my name and picture to open a facebook account. They know that I am a credible. They are going about collecting money from Nigerians in the name of the Supporters Club. The moment they used my name and picture to open the facebook account, Kanu Nwankwo, Austin Okocha and other imminent Nigerians joined thinking that I was actually the one operating the facebook account. I had disassociated myself from it, but the fraud stars still go about with their criminal activities using my picture, my name and that of the Supporters Club,” Ladipo stated.

Meanwhile, Ladipo was elected President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) four months ago, added another feather to his cap two weeks ago when the he was appointed Director of the Commonwealth Boxing Board of Control. He is expected to travel to London later this month for a meeting with the Commonwealth boxing body, where he is expected to present names of Nigerian boxers who have qualified to fight in various Commonwealth boxing titles.
