Sunshine Stars get Technical Director

AS part of effort to ensure overwhelming success for teams under the charge of the Ondo State Football Agency,ODSFA, the leadership of the agency under the Chairmanship of Mr. Akin Akinbobola has concluded negotiations and appointed Mr. Paul Ashworth as the new Technical Director of the agency.

  Ashworth who is from Latvia is expected to head the technical department of the agency as well as head the coaching unit of the agency in addition to the organisation of training and re-training for all coaches under the charge of the agency.

   Ashworth is also expected to guide the tertiary teams of the agency including Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens, to first or second position in the fast approaching new season in the league and also in the federation cup.

     The former Director of Kwara football academy is also expected to be involved in the exposure and marketing of players under the charge of the agency.

  The chairman of the agency who is also the president of Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens, Akinbobola, while thanking Governor Olusegun Mimiko for making the dreams a reality said no stone will be left unturned in a bid to achieve maximum success.

  Ashworth is expected to arrive in Nigeria in few days to begin his new job as preparations for the new season gets underway.

 Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars has rounded off their training tour of Europe, with stakeholders hailing the idea behind the move.

  Speaking on arrival from Budapest, Hungary, the Ondo State commissioner for youth development and sports, Mr. Bekekhimi Idhiari said the gesture would go a long way in realising the dreams and vision of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

  The Sports commissioner, who led the delegation to Hungary, said the exposure would bring out the best from the team.

  “We are so grateful to God Almighty for this moment, it is a moment that will be remembered for a very long time in the history of football development in the state. It is a landmark achievement that our professional football team, Sunshine Stars have now been exposed to international training and facilities in a strong bid to get the best from the team,” he said.
