MR Chris Green, a member of the board of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) was on Thursday re-elected as the Chairman of Rivers Football Association (FA).

In the election conducted on Thursday by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, a representative of the NFA, Green scored 14 votes to beat China Acheru, Media Officer of Dolphins FC, who had 2 votes.

Green later told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he would do better than he did before.

“To me, the bar is raised and I need to get to where I want to get and carry Rivers people along.

“The institutions have benefitted from me in Rivers State, I will not relent and I will make sure that they benefit more from me,’’ he said.

Green said the association would continue to host the Governor’s Cup, Port Harcourt City football tournament and other sponsored competitions.

He said the association would use such tournaments for talent hunt and expose such talents to national and international meets.

Conceeding defeat, Mr China Acheru, said he had accepted the outcome of the election.

“I accept what happened today and we will work to move football in the state forward,’’ he said.

Other executive members elected are Chief Omineokuma Kile as Vice-Chairman, Amonibia Amonibia and Solomon Igbanibo.

Also elected are Kingsley Woke, Adum Chinanu, Chief Jacob Nkpa, Martins Giadom and Chukwumerije Nwuche. (NAN)
