The Flying Eagles followed up their superb performance against North Korea with a 2-nil victory against their counterparts from Hungary in the last game of the group stage at the FIFA U-20 World Cup currently going on in New Zealand.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored the two goals.

Awoniyi’s first goal came after he volleyed in a pinpoint cross by Saviour Godwin in the 33rd minute of the game. The second was an easy goal  after Hungarian pair Attila Osvath and Akos Kecskes crashed into each other, leaving Awoniyi with an easy path to the goal.

The Flying Eagles qualify for the next round with 6 points behind the group leaders, Brazil, who qualify from the group with maximum 9 points.

The victory has earned the Flying Eagles a date with the European champions, Germany, in the next round on June 11 at the Christchurch Stadium.
