FC IfeanyiUbah leads, as MFM, Rangers draw
With 19 points from 10 matches, FC IfeanyiUbah are the new leaders of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). The Nnewi-based team defeated visiting Plateau United 2-0 to overtake Enugu Rangers at the top of the log.
Rangers could only draw 1-1 with MFM of Lagos at the Agege Stadium yesterday to arrive at 18 points.
Yesterday’s win was masterminded by Cote d’Ivoire’s Pascal Seka and Tamen Medrano, a Camerounian, who came off the bench to consolidate IfeanyiUbah’s lead after Seka had given the home side an 18th minute lead from the spot when
goal-bound Bright Onyedikachi was brought down inside the box.
At the Agege Stadium, Enugu Rangers threatened to inflict the first home loss on MFM when former Flying Eagles’ star, Obinna Nwobodo, put the Flying Antelopes ahead in the 36th minute. But the Godwin Enarkhena boys drew level in the 68th minute through Stephen Odey.
In other games of the day, 3SC and Giwa FC defeated visiting Ikorodu United and Kano Pillars 2-0 respectively, while Lobi Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Wikki Tourists and hosts Tornadoes forced Sunshine Stars to a 2-2 draw.
Abia Warriors recorded their first away win in Uyo where they beat Akwa United 2-1, but Niger Tornadoes forced Sunshine Stars to a 2-2 draw.
