Former champions, Falana & Falana has regained the BOA Lawyers trophy following their 3-0 defeat of ALP/SPA Ajibade 3-0 in the final match played at the AstroTurf2000, Ikoyi Lagos.

The final was the climax of a thrilling championship, which saw teams from the biggest law firms in Lagos contesting for the trophy won by Olisa Agbakoba Legal last year.

In the final match watched by many football lovers, including lawyers, friends and families of the teams, Falana & Falana, who won the title in 2016, took the lead in the ninth minute through Tayo Fashesin. The deadly Fashesin added two more goals in the 18th and 19th minutes to seal victory for his side.

To qualify for the final, Falana & Falana defeated LSMJ 4-3 through a penalty shoot out after regular period had ended goalless. ALP/SPA Ajibade, on the other hand, beat Advocaat 2-0 with Tosan Wiltshire and Tayo Erelu accounting for the goals.

In the third place match decided before the final, Lagos State Ministry of Justice surprisingly lost to Advocaat 1-2 through a penalty shoot out that separated the teams after a goalless regular time.

The Lawyers League is held in memory of the late lawyer, Bankole Olumide Aluko, a founding partner in the law firm of Aluko & Oyebode, who passed on 17 years ago.
