Egypt tops medals table as competition enters day three
Egyptians put up brilliant displays to pull clear on the medal’s table on day two of the Eighth Junior/Cadet African Fencing Championships holding at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The Egyptians, one of the continent’s powerhouses in the sport, won gold medals in the Men’s Cadet Sabre and the female foil, as well as the Cadet Epee.
While the likes of Yahia Mady, Abdelhiman Oussama and Loay Sameh are expected to lead their quest for podium finish in the Men’s Individual Foil, Yasmin Ali has a daunting task as she competes in the Women Individual Sabre with the Algerian trio of Chaima Benadouda, Naila Benchekor and Kaouthe
South Africa and Algeria are giving Egypt a good chase as they also have fencers that are already in the medals’ zone.
